EL CLASSICO Pabre Vs Koudougou

C’est bien une activité assez régulière de par les précédentes cohortes ICS au Burkina-Faso. Certes le mot d’ordre est parmi tant  d’autres ;  la promotion du sport inclusif, le choc des titans entre deux des équipes les plus accomplies de Handibasket reste une rencontre de taille et non une partie de plaisir. Vu la masse d’énergie dépensée, la forte tension de compétition, le désir de victoire de surpassement de soi, et une once vindicative du côté de Koudougou.

It is known as a regular activity through all the previous cohorts here in Burkina-Faso to promote inclusive Sports as one of our main goals. One of the ways we do this is through an annual handibasket matches between Koudougou and Pabre. One match between the volunteers of both charities and another between the handibasket teams of both Koudougou and Pabre. The Clash of the two Handibasket teams Titans Pabre and Koudougou has never been a sweet party rather filled with huge tension and a great deal of energy. The desire of achievement as well as a bit of ‘revenge’ for Koudougou inspires both teams to victory.

Les Hostilités de cette fois ci commencèrent bien assez tôt, les « on va vous battre » et « on va vous montrer comment jouer » fusaient de partout aux débuts de nos placements. Les équipes mêmes n’étaient pas aussi empreintes de ce désir de victoire que nous les volontaires. Les derniers jours de préparation furent assez intenses de part et d’autre.

The clashes begun since the beginning of our placement when HSB volunteers stated smugly “we’re going to defeat you” and “we’re going to show you how to play”. The following statements only heightened ASK’S volunteers desire to win to the extent that the volunteers wanted to win more than the teams of the associations.

Le matin du Départ Dame Nature s’en mêla, une forte averse se déclencha dans la matinée. Comme si cela pouvait nous arrêter. Et le Handiclub et nous-mêmes fûmes bien au point de rendez-vous. Notre quête vers Pabre commença alors à 8 heures, malgré la pluie qui nous a fait avoir un retard de quelques heures, nous n’arrivâmes qu’à 12 heures. Les mots de bienvenue à peine finis, le premier clash commença ; il opposa les volontaires et applaudi par la petite foule de partenaire et des handibasketeurs.  La victoire choisit ASK 4 paniers à 0.

Our trip to Pabre was on the 24^th of February and it started at 8 am. Even though the rain stopped us for a couple of hours we still maintained focus on Pabre and the journey took four hours and we arrived in Pabre at 12pm. After a warm welcome from HSB our attention soon turned to the matter at hand. The match. The first match played was the much anticipated game between the volunteers. Despite being exhausted from our journey and having very little training ASK volunteers pulled of an unlikely victory winning 4-0.

Vint ensuite le tour des professionnels ; il y avait de l’électricité dans l’air, la rapidité, l’efficacité, la puissance fusaient des deux équipes ; mais comme avec les « petits » la victoire choisit encore ASK, 10 points à 8.

Next up was the teams of the associations go. The game was played at an electric pace with immense power and precision providing a great spectacle for the crowd. A great performance from ASK meant another victory for ASK as they won 10-8. A great day for ASK.

 Les matchs finis nos hôtes nous offrirent un repas à leur siège ; où les bases d’un partenariat d’entraide dans nos luttes communes, furent signées.

After the match we celebrated the partnership between the ASK association and HSB association with a delicious meal. During the meal the partnership was signed ensuring the promotion of inclusive sport as resources such as equipment, players and coaches can be shared between the two associations.

 Contents et gagnants, nous primes la route du retour  à 15 h 30, un peu penaud de quitter nos amis.

After the meal we bid farewell with full belly and a heavy heart we returned to the bus ready for the journey home returning at 3:30 pm.
