ASK B Team!

Hello from the second cohort of ASK!

 

                                              Team Ask

After three days of training in 2ie University at Kamboinsin, the second cohort have arrived in Koudougou and are ready to continue building on the foundations set by the first cohort.

Our objectives

During our three months with Action Sociale de Koudougou (ASK), our primary aim is to raise awareness for disability rights within the local community in Koudougou, and wider Burkina Faso. One of the ways we wish to do this is by ensuring that public spaces such as the basketball stadium and local places of worship are wheelchair accessible, by providing ramps. We will be achieving our awareness raising goals through inclusive sports sessions that highlight the difficulties of living with a disability. In conjunction with this, we will also be teaching French, English and ICT lessons to local community members and association partners in order to reinforce their capacities.

Introducing the team!

Our team is made up of four Burkinabé volunteers and five UK volunteers, and led by our  two team leaders Auguste and Sammie.

First we have Burkinabé volunteer Kaboré Gildas a law student from Ouagadougou. Paired with UK counterpart Kayleigh, who works with people living with disabilities in the UK and is interested in seeing the different challenges that disablity can bring in Burkina Faso!

Next, is UK volunteer Bethan, who is a dab hand at African Culture, this being her sixth time in Africa! Her Burkinabé counterpart is Ky Ariane, who is finding her first experience with people from the UK to be very ‘interesting’.

Our resident paparazzi snapper, Chanel, had never travelled outside of the UK before this trip! She is loving her African adventure! Living with her is Burkinabé volunteer Aziz, who is working here with ASK so he can help his community. And with them is UK volunteer Ethan, who in his spare time likes to run obstacle races ‘for fun’.

And finally, we have Zan Odette from Ouagadougou, Geography student who enjoys working with people from other countries, and her UK counterpart Caitlin, who has lived in Uganda but is still fond of her birthplace in Norfolk.

Taking charge we have UK team leader Sammie, who was a former foot model in South America and Burkinabé team leader Auguste, who is passionate about football, wanting to pursue a career as a football manager before he became a team leader for ASK.

Salut de la deuxieme cohort de ASK!

Après trois jours de formation à ľuniversité 2ié de kamboinsin, la deuxieme cohort est à Koudougou et prête à continuer ľoeuvre de la première cohort.

Nos objectives

Durant nos trois(03) mois avec ľAction Sociale de Koudougou(ASK),notre but premier est de mener une campagne de sensibilisation sur les droits des personnes vivant avec un handicap dans la communauté de Koudougou,et au plus au Burkina Faso. Nous comptons accomplir ses actions en assurant ľaccès aux lieux publiques des personnes vivant avec un handicap comme le plateau de basket et les lieux de prières  avec la construction des rampes. Nous atteindrons nos objectifs de sensibilisation grâce à des séances sportives inclusives qui mettront en evidence les difficultés de vivre avec un handicap. En plus nous donnerons des cours de français,ďanglais et ďinformatique aux membres de la communauté locale, les associations et les partenaires afin de renforcer leurs capacités.

Notre cohort est composée de quatre (04) volontaires burkinabé et cinq (05)volontaires britaniques dirigée par nos deux (02) chefs ďéquipes Auguste et Sammie.

Ensuite, nous avons Bethan un volontaire britanique qui est expert de la culture africaine, etant donné que c’est sa sixième fois de venir en Afrique, sa partenaire Burkinabe est Ky Ariane qui trouve sa première experience avec les britaniques très intéréssante.

Premièrement, nous avons kaboré Gildas étudiant en droit à ľuniversité de Ouagadougou, avec un volontaire britanique Kayleigh son partenaire, qui travail avec des personnes en situation de handicap en Grande Bretagne et qui s’intéresse à nos différentes défies en afrique.

Enfin,nous avons Zan Odette de Ouagadougou,étudiante en géographie qui se réjouis d'être avec des britaniques ,et sa partenaire britanique Caitlin qui a vécu en Ouganda mais est toujours attaché á son lieu de naissance Norfolk.

Chanel, toujours prête pour les photos, volontaire britanique n’avait jamais quitté l’Angleterre, elle est contente de son aventure en Afrique avec le volontaire national Aziz qui travail avec ASK pour sa communauté. A eux s’ajoute Ethan un autre volontaire britanique qui préfere le defies des obstacles comme passé-temps.

Nous avons comme chefs d’équipe la britanique Sammie, qui était manequaine de pied en Amerique du Sud et le national Auguste,passionné du football, souhaiterais mener une carière comme manager de football avant qu’il devienne chef d’équipe.
