Magic Marketing Mix - Le Marketing Mix Magique!

Marketing Team preparing their class together.

Following an impressive turnout and a front row of a dozen faces eager to learn, the first marketing training with our partnering associations was off to a flying start.

With strong background knowledge and skills in marketing, Ruben, Farouk, Hollie and Mohamed took to the stage to lead the marketing training. This first session was aimed at offering people living with a disability the knowledge to better market their products so as to increase their visibility and revenue. ASK plan to have delivered enough training in time for the forthcoming fair event on the 4th March in Sabou village, allowing our associations to put all the theory they have learnt into practise, selling their products with flair and welcoming in new customers from Sabou.

After a quick introduction of themselves, with Ruben and Hollie bravely attempting French, they began briefing the attendees on the core marketing strategies in business; for example Mohamed gave an effective presentation on the importance of branding and imagery, using a Dafani mango juice carton. He went on to discuss the product, price, place and promotion of this carton, the magic 'marketing mix' as it is commonly referred to. This helped to give our associations ideas on how to better promote their products and how to increase sales using techniques such as special offers and promotions.

Following on from this, Farouk and Mohamed approached the topic of social media and ways to increase business awareness. Provided with information on local business fairs and passing around some examples of business cards, the attendees were given a clear idea on how to advertise their businesses effectively using catalogues. Interestingly, we found that many of the associations were already familiar with social media outlets such as facebook however they had not previously considered using the internet as a means of promoting their products and attracting more customers. This will be very beneficial for them and something that we hope to base our future marketing classes and IT sessions around.

Lastly and with unaccustomed accents, Hollie and Ruben rounded up the session using their best French; a learning experience for both them and the attendees. They concluded a successful and informative session with a classic Q&A session, during which attendees were invited to ask questions about the presentation. Overall we had a really positive response and everyone appeared to enjoy the session.

Bring on the next Marketing class!
